Globalizing the GeneaBlogosphere

And I promise never to try to write in German again!

"Looks like Greek to me" as the saying goes. I've never had any training in the German language but kinda figured Craig was welcoming Christina to the genea-blogosphere. Here's how babel fish http://babelfish.altavista.com/ translated Craig's post (not perfect but you get the idea):

"This evening I came over a genealogisches Blog, which I had not seen before. It is written by Christina, which says that she is expatriiert in Germany an American. Their Blog is main on English, with something German now and then. I lived in Germany von Alter four yearly to age sieve yearly and studied German of the kindergarten by High School and university. But, while everyone, which reads this, can explain, I had most forgotten of, what I knew. I can do in any case ones legend to Christina: Welcomely to Genea blogosphere! I hope that you enjoy it here. And I hope that you consider contributing to our Karneval if it is comfortable."

Pretty close, Becky! But it shows the difficulty of translation! Here's what it should have said:
"This evening, I came across a genealogy blog that I had not seen before. It's written by Christina, who says that she is an American expatriate in Germany. Her blog is mainly in English, with some German now and then. I lived in Germany from age four to age seven and learned German in kindergarten and in high school through college. But as anyone who reads this can tell, I have forgotten most of what I learned! In any case, may I say to Christina: "Welcome to the genea-blogosphere! I hope that you enjoy it here. And I hope that you consider contributing to our Carnival when it's convenient."

Thanks for the welcome Craig! I have looked at the Carnival topics over the past few weeks but haven't quite gotten up the courage to write or submit anything. I know, I know, I should just do it, and will eventually ;-)

And your German's pretty good, btw!
